In July 2003, Ashok J. Kar, M.D., performed the first successful robotic Radical Prostatectomy for prostate cancer using St. Joseph Hospital’s new DaVinci Robot. As an expert in the field, Dr. Kar frequently lectures on the topic of robotic technique for prostatectomy at international medical conferences as well as local clinical meetings.

Dr. Kar believes the advantage of robotic surgery is in its precision in using laporascopic incisions (a.k.a. “Band-aid “surgery ). This innovative technique translates to shorter hospital stays and less pain for patients, as well as faster recovery. Patients are often discharged with one to two days after surgery.

Dr. Beck is a recent graduate from the urology program at the University of California, Irvine. This past year he completed additional training in pediatric urology under the renowned Dr. Antonie Khoury at CHOC. He has received many honors including Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha.

Dr. Beck has been quite successful academically with over 20 peer reviewed publications and book chapters in the adult and pediatric urologic literature. He ha presented his research at National and International meetings. Dr. Beck is presently continuing his research by completing a master program at UC Irvine in clinical outcomes research to help improve patients care after surgery.

Dr. Beck is now in our office seeing adult and pediatric patients. With his addition to my group, we can continue to service all of your patient’s urologic needs.

She Manages the daily operations of the medical practice, coordinates patient care, supervises and trains all staff members.
